      對話總校長,這群小記者厲害了~

      十月的蘇城,金桂飄香,安靜的蘇城外國語學(xué)校里有一群忙碌的孩子們在奔波。

      In October, Suzhou is full of the sweet scent of Osmanthus. There is a group of busy children walking in a hurry in the quiet campus.



      他們要去哪里?他們要去做什么?讓我們尋著那匆匆的腳步去一探究竟吧。

       Where are they going? What are they going to do? Let's follow their steps to find out.

      Transdisciplinary Theme—How we organize ourselves


      原來,這是蘇城外國學(xué)校獨(dú)具特色的PYP課程。本次探究活動的中心思想是:政府系統(tǒng)和政府決策對社會的影響。

      It turned out that this was a part of the UOI course of Soochow Foreign Language School. The central idea of this unit is: the influence of government system and government decision-making on society.



      孩子們對“系統(tǒng)”這個概念還不清晰,如何去理解呢?于是老師便引導(dǎo)大家思考下身邊的“系統(tǒng)”,與此產(chǎn)生聯(lián)系幫助他們?nèi)ダ斫狻跋到y(tǒng)”的中心思想。

      However, children were not familiar with the concept "system". Teachers guided them to think about the "systems" around them, helping them find the connection between real life and abstract concept to better understand the central idea. 

      五年級的學(xué)生們化身“小記者”,在校園里展開“破題”之旅——采訪學(xué)校各職能部門,詢問其職責(zé)范圍,理清學(xué)校組織框架,明白學(xué)校系統(tǒng)是如何運(yùn)作的。

      As a result, the students in Year Five turned into "little reporters" and started a journey of "problem solving" on campus by interviews of all functional departments of the school, sorting out the organizational framework of the school, and finally got to understand how the school system works.




      第一站去哪呢?當(dāng)然是總校長室。自信開朗的“小記者”勇敢的敲開了總校長室的大門,他們特想問一問,平日里和藹可親的校長,整天都在忙什么呢?

      So where was their first stop? The principal's office, of course. The confident and cheerful "little reporters" bravely knocked on the door of the principal's office. They wanted to ask what the amiable principal was busy with every day.



      你瞧,他們嚴(yán)肅認(rèn)真的樣子,還真有“記者范”。

      Take a look of their serious "reporter style". Time to ask questions.



      提問環(huán)節(jié)到了,大家都會問些什么呢?


      還別說,“小記者”憑著敏銳的觀察,

      問的問題還真五花八門!

      With keen observation, the "little reporters" asked a variety of questions.


      “校長,這么大的學(xué)校,您是如何來管理的呢?”

      “How do you manage such a big school?”

      “首先,一個人的精力是有限的。這么大的學(xué)校要做到井然有序、有條不紊,必然需要一個優(yōu)秀的管理團(tuán)隊(duì)。對此我們提出‘與優(yōu)秀者同行’、‘與志同道合者同行’、‘與尊重學(xué)生差異者同行’的理念,挑選優(yōu)秀的教育工作者加入管理團(tuán)隊(duì),共同幫助學(xué)校進(jìn)步……”

      "First of all, everyone's energy is limited. An excellent management team is quite necessary for such a great school to be well organized. So we commit ourselves tothe concept of 'being with the outstanding people' 'being with people who trust others' and 'being with the individuals who respect the differences among students', we select excellent educators to join the management team to help the school make progress together...”


      “校長,您對學(xué)生有哪些期望呢?”

      “What is your expectation for the students?”

      “我們學(xué)校是一所IB國際學(xué)校,以‘教育為一生奠基’為使命,實(shí)施‘全納’、‘全人’教育,我們努力使年輕的一代成為勤學(xué)好問、知識淵博、積極進(jìn)取、富有愛心的終身學(xué)習(xí)者,他們兼具中國靈魂和國際情懷,能為民族振興和更美好、更和平的世界貢獻(xiàn)力量……”

       “Our school is an international IB school. With the mission of 'Education is the footstone of an individual', we implement 'inclusive' and 'holistic' education. We strive to make the younger generation a lifelong learner who is  inquiring, knowledgeable,active and compassionate. They have both Chinese identity and international mindedness. They can also contribute to a better China and a more peaceful world..."


      “校長您的頭發(fā)為什么白了,是工作累的嗎?”

      “Why your hair is all gray. Is it because of work?”

      “校長,您每天的工作都是什么呢?”

      “What is your everyday work?”

      “校長,您在工作中都會遇到哪些難題呢?”

      “Are there any difficulties in your work?”

      ……

      總校長李春雷先生耐心細(xì)致地解答了“小記者”們提出的每一個問題,并對大家提出了期望。

      As the general principal of Soochow Foreign Language School, Mr. David Li responded to the reporters with patience.



      “小記者”們經(jīng)過此次采訪,對校長的工作有了大致了解,不由感嘆到:看來,要管理好一所學(xué)校還真不是那么簡單的事呢!

      After the interview, the litter reporters were impressed about the duty of a principal and the difficulty to manage a school.


      接著,同學(xué)們還采訪了醫(yī)務(wù)室,了解到醫(yī)生阿姨要24小時值班,隨時應(yīng)對學(xué)生的突發(fā)疾病,保障在校學(xué)生的身體健康;走訪了人力辦,總務(wù)處,小學(xué)項(xiàng)目處等相關(guān)部門人員,通過采訪,孩子們了解了部門之間的聯(lián)系和主要職責(zé),也感慨老師們工作的不易。

      The students also interviewed the nurses at the school infirmary and learned that they are on duty 24 hours a day to deal with any sudden injury of the students, and ensure the health of the students at school. They also visited the human resources office, general affairs office, international exchange center, admissions office, library and etc., through which the children learned that it was not easy to be a teacher and the effective operation of a system requires each position to play a role. 



      特別是保衛(wèi)處的保安叔叔,通過采訪,“小記者”們才真正知道了保安叔叔可不僅僅是“看看門”這么簡單,他們負(fù)責(zé)的可是全校師生的安全,嚴(yán)格執(zhí)行學(xué)校制定的安保制度,全天候執(zhí)勤,時刻為我們保駕護(hù)航。

      They were particularly impressed by the security guards. Beyond simply guarding the gate, they are responsible for the safety of the entire school staff and students all the time.



      教室里的孩子們也沒有閑著,他們根據(jù)平時對校園的觀察,結(jié)合自己合理的推測初步構(gòu)建出蘇城外國語學(xué)校的組織架構(gòu)圖,等小記者們回來分享他們的采訪所得后,將他們的心目中的蘇城外國語學(xué)校用各種形式表現(xiàn)出來。

      The children in the classroom were also busy working on the organizational chart of Soochow Foreign Language School according to their daily observation and speculation. When the little reporters came back and shared their findings, they presented the school system in their eyes in various forms together.



      帶著這樣的認(rèn)識,同學(xué)們將繼續(xù)深入本單元的探究。把校園當(dāng)成課堂,自發(fā)探究,循序漸進(jìn),讓自己成為學(xué)習(xí)的主導(dǎo)者。以開放主動的活動形式,培養(yǎng)交流溝通的能力,呈現(xiàn)出IB學(xué)習(xí)者的風(fēng)采。

      With this understanding, they will continue to explore this unit. In Soochow Foreign Language School, we take the campus as the classroom and let students become the owners of their learning.

      which develops their communication and social skills and demonstrates the IB learner profile attributes.
